As the world has been developed dramatically recently, travelling abroad is now getting more and more popular. The more people planning to go abroad, the more questions they may wondering. One of the most popular question asked so far is what are the must-have items on your baggage when you are on an international trip. Thus, the answer which has been appeared for decades is: “Those are passport, money, and time”.
Passport, money and time, are those enough?
In my point of view, they are not enough for your international journey. It is undeniable that passport must be included in your pocket when you’re travelling abroad. If not, you are not allowed to get out of the country as well as come in others. In some cases, your passport even has to consist a visa.
I ,by no means, refuse the importance of time and money. In fact, I believe that the huge amount of time or money is the solution for almost every troubles you get in on the road. For examples, if you are late for the train, no problems as you have plenty of time so you can wait for a later one or if you are in a hurry, you could get on a flight with a considerable money spent but fit your schedule. It is also true in a more serious situation like when you spending time in a village an at the time you wanna get out, a storm coming and washing out the road. It’s fine if you could wait for days or even weeks. Or if you get a time pressure, you will be ok as you willing to hire a porter or a horse.
Even for such a breakdown like luggage missing, cancelled flight, your ship sinks, or may be you get a traffic accident, etc. Time and money could, most of the time, solve them all.
Yet, you don’t have either unlimited time or unlimited money, do you?
Thus, what would you do when both of them running out? What is the fourth element for an international trip?
Is phone an option?
Unfortunately, it is not. Some may say phone is such an important item, especially since they became “smart”. It is undeniable that it is useful to look up any information or finding the road, take photo, etc. There are a lot of features added in one smartphone only. However, there is always a way to deal with the no-phone problems as people used to do it years before phone invented.
Bringing a phone during your journey, in fact, just the way to slow down and lessen the value of your trip. Phone keeps distract you from your trip target with work, people at home, etc. Just try to leave it at home once and you will find your travel way better.
An annual travel insurance to complete your must-have-item list
Not only me but most of travel bloggers and experienced backpackers will agree with this idea. You would never know whenever your number comes up and you have to tackle with some travel tragedies.
There are to many risks to think about. It may be the volcano which you are climbing up suddenly erupts through years sleeping. Or it might be the flight you get are bombed. It could even be the terrorist damaging place where you are in. They are unwanted and unthinkable disasters which can happen anytime. Thus, you need a travel insurance to find yourself a peace of mind.
Nowadays, due to its benefits, travel insurance become more popular. It can be seen from the fact that it is considered as a requirement in numerous adventure company. It helps them avoid dealing with customer’s injuries and sickness which are not because of them and the later problems.
Moreover, since August 6, 2018, visitors are not allow to enter Ecuador without a travel insurance. And it seems to be the same in many countries in the following years.
In conclusion, beside passport, money and time, an annual travel insurance is a thing which you have to prepare for any abroad journey. Despite the fact that it can charge you some money, it is worthy especially when you are living in a country that has such a pricey health service like the USA.
